Foolish Games

Jewel

_You took your coat off,_

_stood in the rain._

_You were always crazy like that._

Freddie watched through the peephole as Sam walked up to Carly's door, soaking wet, and tried to open it. When it didn't, she banged on it, screaming, "Carly!" at the top of her lungs. Freddie stepped outside into the hallway and shut the door, leaning against it.

"Forgot your jacket, Sam?" he asked, smirking.

"Jackets are for the weak, Fred-weird," said Sam, only turning to him for a split second before turning back around to continue rattling the doorknob. "I take whatever nature throws at me."

_And I watched from my window;_

_always felt I was outside_

_looking in on you._

Freddie rolled his eyes. Sam was in her own little world, where all the things she said made sense to her, while he stood on the outside, thinking she was crazy. But Freddie briefly wondered if all that Sam said had a deeper meaning than what he was hearing.

_You were always the mysterious one _

_with dark eyes and careless hair._

_You were fashionably sensitive_

_but too cool to care._

Freddie growled to himself as Sam shook out her wet blonde hair, resulting in water being sprayed all over him. He coughed and sputtered; Sam had a lot of hair, and in that hair was a lot of water.

"It's just water," said Sam, rolling her eyes as she continued to shake out her hair. "Don't cry, Fredward. Carly!" Sam banged on the door some more, literally shaking in her Converse.

_You stood in my doorway_

_with nothing to say_

_besides some comment on the weather._

"Ugh!" said Sam, banging on the door one last time. "Well, I guess you'll have to entertain me. We can ramble about something meaningless. Great weather today, huh? That's Seattle for you."

Freddie swallowed.

_In case you failed to notice,_

_in case you failed to see,_

_this is my heart, bleeding before you,_

_this is me down on my knees. _

Freddie didn't know how to respond to Sam. He was suddenly overwhelmed with feelings for her, feelings that he didn't know how to express. Feelings he'd never even felt before. Now he was just confusing himself…he didn't want to think about this.

_And these foolish games are tearing me apart…_

_And your thoughtless words are breaking my heart._

_You're breaking my heart…_

No, Freddie thought. Forget it. This is Sam you're thinking about. You could never like her. She doesn't care about you, anyway.

But Freddie couldn't help thinking that Sam probably did care, she just didn't want to show it.

"So? How 'bout the weather, dork? Hello? Dork?"

_Excuse me,_

_think I've mistaken you for somebody else._

_Somebody who gave a care,_

_somebody more like myself._

Freddie sighed. Of course she didn't care. But he blew it off. It's not as if he cared if she cared, anyway. He replied, "It stinks."

_And these foolish games are tearing me, they're tearing me, _

_they're tearing me apart. _

_And your thoughtless words are breaking my heart…_

_You're breaking my heart…_

**And there's my first songfic! I hope you like it. I know it's probably cheesy, but it's my first try. Read and Review!**
